Antarctica: after 48 years, the Petrel base has inhabitants again in winter

The Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana, analyzed in dialogue with Télam the most salient points of the Antarctic Campaign 2022, among which he highlighted the work at the Belgrano II base - the closest to the South Pole - to install two Conae antennas, the reactivation of the Petrel base and medical transfers and the deployment of personnel and materials, among others.

The reactivation of Petrel, the Antarctic base in which Argentina seeks to recover a dock and two airstrips, is one of the most relevant milestones of the Antarctic Summer Campaign (CAV) 2022, as considered by the Minister of Defense in dialogue with Télam, Jorge Taiana.
