Some 1,200 troops from the Special Forces of the Chilean Army and the United States Southern Special Operations Command tested their day and night combat capabilities, in extreme weather conditions.
The training carried out in the Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica; sought to strengthen the interoperability of both countries and training in combat skills in cold climates of the southern winter.
The activity took place between Monday, June 24 and Friday, June 20 and 28, and included the intervention of CASA CN-235 aircraft from the Chilean Army and a Super Hercules C-130J-30 from the United States Air Force; that they were operating from the Punta Arenas Carlos IbÑñez del Campo international airport, and from the CapitΓ‘n Fuentes MartΓnez airfield in the Porvenir commune; Province of Tierra del Fuego, Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica.
In addition to a strong deployment on the ground developed during the first days, one of the activities carried out in the Pacific Dagger 2024 exercise was the aerial insertion of the Special Forces of the Chilean Army and Socsouth of the United States, by parachute launch from the CASA CN-235, as could be seen in the accounts of X (former Twitter) of the Chilean Army and of several civilians interested in military matters.
