The allegations of human rights violations point to torture and abuse that occurred more than four decades ago, during the Malvinas War.

The La Plata veterans' center, CECIM, has once again put on the table a demand that has gone unanswered for decades : they are demanding that the Supreme Court of Justice move forward with the resolution of the cases related to human rights violations committed by the Argentine army against its own soldiers during the Malvinas War in 1982 .

Through a request for expedited dispatch , the organization seeks a concrete decision on nine cases that have remained in legal limbo for more than four years , with rulings that have not yet been materialized.

The files in question contain allegations based on testimonies from former soldiers who recounted the torture and other forms of violence they suffered at the hands of the Argentine Armed Forces , under the orders of the military of that time.

The backlog of cases demonstrates a persistent lack of momentum in moving forward with the legal proceedings , despite the fact that the Attorney General issued a favorable opinion in November 2022.

However, these appeals have not yet completed the necessary process to reach a final judgment . Therefore, the former combatants are requesting that the country's highest judicial body issue a ruling with the urgency that the situation warrants and guarantee compliance with constitutional standards regarding human rights.

The CECIM notes with concern the Supreme Court's apparent lack of interest in addressing these cases , which are not exclusive to a bygone era. They are part of a pattern of rights violations that, despite the passing of decades, have not been properly tried or clarified.

" This Supreme Court of Justice demonstrates a lack of interest in ensuring that the judiciary provides Argentines with a justice service that complies with the Constitution and current laws, failing to guarantee procedural guarantees ," the veterans stated in the statement.

They added that " they do not listen to the Argentine soldiers tortured by the Argentine Armed Forces under the orders of Galtieri, Anaya and Lamidozo, who acted throughout the national territory under the 'National Security Doctrine', including in our Malvinas Islands ."
