The government abandons the Magdalena canal project

In a new chapter of renunciation of national sovereignty, Milei scrapped the project to dredge the Magdalena channel and gave the go-ahead to the Uruguayan Lacalle to expand the port of Montevideo.

Conceived as a vital route to integrate Argentine ports and reduce costs, it is now on hold.

In a notable turn, Argentine President Javier Milei de facto renounced the ambitious Magdalena Channel dredging project , an initiative aimed at strengthening the country's maritime connection with the Atlantic Ocean.
