The usurpers will carry out repairs in the military enclave of Malvinas

The works will be carried out on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the construction of the Monte Agradable military complex, according to the announcement made by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation of the United Kingdom. The works have been awarded to the company Mitie, which will carry them out through a subsidiary of the M Group Services.

The UK government, through the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), announced that it has awarded a contract to the company Mitie to carry out repairs on the runway of the Mount Pleasant military complex , the Royal Air Force (RAF) airfield that British colonialism together with NATO has located in the occupied territories of our Malvinas Islands.

Founded in 1987, Mitie is a leading UK facilities management and professional services company. It employs 68,000 people who “serve a large, diverse and blue-chip client base, from banks and retailers, to hospitals, schools and critical government strategic assets,” as reported on its website.

The work will be carried out by Dyer & Butler , who also completed the resurfacing of the site’s Alpha Loop taxiway earlier this year. Dyer & Butler is part of a wider group, M Group Services , and offers “specialist engineering services to the UK transport network across aviation, rail and adjacent markets” , and aims to become the “leading provider of essential infrastructure services to the UK transport sector” .

The Mount Pleasant military complex is a major overseas base for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and is run by the UK’s Strategic Command . The British government said: “The £20m project will replace 20,000m2 of operational airfield land by resurfacing the Foxtrot taxiway and threshold,” adding that “construction will begin shortly, with equipment and material already making the 8,000-mile journey to the islands by boat from the UK.”

Major Brad Southall , DIO Project Manager, said: “Working on the other side of the world requires even closer collaboration than normal. We are working closely with UK Strategic Command, British Forces South Atlantic Islands, Mitie and Dyer & Butler to ensure the success of the project,” adding: “We are fortunate to have the support of 8th Brigade Royal Engineers, who have supplied military engineers. They will provide quality control and liaise between the construction team and airfield staff so we can ensure we can work effectively around the continuity of air operations.”

Charlie Antelme , Mitie ’s Director General of Defence, said: “We are proud to support the UK Armed Forces in their crucial operations both at home and abroad. Building on our previous successful refit works at the Mount Pleasant Complex, we look forward to applying the same specialist expertise to this project, ensuring the safe arrivals and departures of aircraft for years to come,” detailing that the repairs “must be carried out quickly in order to be completed before the onset of the South Atlantic winter, as poor weather conditions make construction almost impossible during the winter months. Work is therefore expected to be completed by March 2025.”

It is worth noting that the works to be carried out aim to maintain and modernise the Monte Agradable military complex that the British together with NATO built and maintain, 53 kilometres from Puerto Argentino, almost four decades ago.

This complex is a fundamental piece that includes the three arms in the brutal colonialist occupation that the British maintain in our territory , but also a latent threat for the whole of the nations and peoples of South America . Military exercises are carried out there permanently, some with the participation of the USA . More than a thousand soldiers, an international airport, four fighter-bombers, several helicopters and an anti-missile system perpetuate the surveillance for the usurpation of the Argentine archipelago in the South Atlantic .
