Despite criticism from parliamentarians, Posse maintained that the Nation spoke out against Cameron's visit through the Foreign Ministry.

The national Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, denied that the project of the comprehensive naval base that is intended to be built in Ushuaia is planned to have the participation of the United States. The intervention of North America had been proposed by President Javier Milei himself with the announcement made during a surprise trip to Ushuaia to meet with the general of the United States Southern Command, Laura Richardson, on April 4.

During the debate on the Bases Law and the fiscal package in the Senate, Posse answered the questions of the Fuegian parliamentarian, Pablo Blanco (UCR) , who asked about the policy of the current administration on the Malvinas Islands and the alignment with North America.

Now the Government is backing down regarding the alleged participation of the US and the national official denied Milei. "Regarding the information about the integrated naval base, I was with the president's visit to Ushuaia, what is being talked about is an integral base and it is not a common base, and at no time was it considered doing it with the United States of America. America" , explained the Chief of Staff, and added that "we speak of a comprehensive base because it is a base that seeks to simultaneously provide services to the needs of the Argentine navy as well as all the ships that transit from Tierra del Fuego to the Antarctica and that have needs, whether for supply or repair.”

On the other hand, the official defended the Presidency's position regarding the Malvinas Question , despite the criticism and repercussions that Milei's statements have been generating about her fanaticism for Margaret Thatcher and the British occupation of the islands.

Posse had to respond and even deny the president's statements , who in an interview with the BBC in London considered that David Cameron "has every right" to visit the Malvinas, as he did last February. Milei's sympathy with the pirates that generated a great impact in Argentina.

However, beyond Milei's statements, Posse maintained that the Nation spoke out against Cameron's visit through the Foreign Ministry , first personally and then through a statement.

“The rejection of the visit to the Islands by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, was personally conveyed by Foreign Minister Diana Mondino on the occasion of a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of meetings of foreign ministers. foreign relations at the G20 in Rio de Janeiro on February 21 and 22 of this year," said the national official, adding that "after this meeting the Foreign Ministry also issued a statement stating said rejection."
