“The organization held its first work meeting on November 6, 2020, and since then it had been holding regular work meetings until the change of government. Our sovereign interests cannot be left in parentheses within the framework of an international political scenario that looks with increasing interest at this area that belongs to us,” said the Fuegian senator.
He said that “as an Argentine and Fuegian I cannot help but demand the urgent implementation of this organization that allows not only to create and project state policies in this regard but also to present technical reports on different matters related to the archipelago and evaluate any international action that may be possible.” "compromise or affect this sovereign area."
“The Council also allows, in a collaborative manner, to strengthen the claim of the exercise of sovereignty over the islands of the South Atlantic in its geographical, environmental, historical, legal and political aspects,” Blanco added.
Finally, as a member of the Malvinas Council, the radical pointed out: “The current government cannot, in any way, continue looking to the side when what is at stake is the sovereignty of the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich and the surrounding maritime spaces.”
