The Argentine Navy is the host of the combined exercise Acrux XI , which brings together the Navies of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay in a series of integrated coastal operations since 1999 . The first ship movements began last Monday and will end next Wednesday, July 24 , with six days of operations and four in port.
This exercise, held every two years in the Paraguay-Paraná river basin with rotating headquarters among the participating countries, proposes combined operations within the framework of a possible UN mission .
The operation takes place from July 12 to 24, with the arrival of the foreign naval units at the Buenos Aires Naval Station taking place last Monday , with planning meetings. The deployment of the units to the Zárate Naval Base on Tuesday and the carrying out of operations in the Ibicuy area, province of Entre Ríos, on Wednesday .
Among the units that are part of it are the river logistics support ship " Potengi ", the "Paraguassu", the patrol ship "Piratini" of the Brazilian Navy, the hospital assistance ship "Tenente Maximiano", the coast guard " Río Negro " and " Río Yaguaron ", the tugboat "Maldonado" of the National Navy of Uruguay, as well as the Argentine vessels ARA "King", ARA " Ciudad de Zárate ", ARA " Río Santiago ", and ARA " Ciudad de Ensenada " , accompanied by members of the Tactical Divers Group and the Marine Infantry Battalion No. 3.
The Aeronaval Component of the Argentine Navy and the National Navy of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay participate, along with an observer from the Paraguayan Navy.
