Hidden Lake: The Milei-Lewis Pact is criminally charged for "fraud against sovereignty"

Legislator Magdalena Odarda filed a complaint with the Office of Administrative Investigations to annul the secret agreement that closed the case concerning the British magnate's 12,000 hectares. The pact, signed under the cover of the January court recess, is being denounced as a direct violation of public order and national security.

The national government withdrew the legal action that sought to declare the authorizations for the purchase of the 12,000 hectares in 1996 null and void.

The impunity that Javier Milei 's government attempted to grant Joe Lewis has begun to crumble in the courts. Legislator María Magdalena Odarda from Río Negro province filed a formal complaint with the Attorney General for Administrative Investigations, Sergio Rodríguez , demanding an investigation into the Interior Ministry officials who, on January 14, signed the state's accountability agreement with the company Hidden Lake .

The scandal lies in the fact that the government withdrew the legal action that sought to declare the 1996 purchase authorizations null and void. That operation, during the government of Carlos Menem, allowed Lewis to keep 12,000 hectares in a border area through front men, an act that the National State itself had described in 2023 as a fraud of absolute nullity .

Summer Maneuvers: The Fair Judge and the Hidden File

Odarda 's complaint focuses on the delivery methodology:

The contradiction of the State: From sovereignty to dispossession

The legislator recalled that there are previous rulings from the National Audit Office (AGN), the Ombudsman's Office, and the General Inspectorate of Justice (IGJ ) confirming that Lewis's property violates National Defense regulations. By signing the settlement agreement, Milei's officials (represented by Dr. Alejandro Patricio Amaro ) deliberately ignored the strict legal standard required for the protection of border areas. According to the complainant, the legal classification has been "de facto altered" without justification, which could constitute criminal offenses.

A military bunker in the heart of Patagonia

While the litigation was being finalized, the situation on the ground was worsening. Recent reports published by this and other media outlets—and cited in the complaint—mention Lewis's construction of a 4,000-square-meter bunker in the Lago Escondido area, a structure with military characteristics built without state authorization. This fact, coupled with the restriction of public access to the lake, reinforces the theory that the area has become a parallel state under British control, with the explicit approval of the Casa Rosada (the Argentine presidential palace).

The call for annulment

The agreement approved by Judge Lara Correa is not just a legal document; it is the surrender of territorial sovereignty to a foreign citizen who has demonstrated a systematic disregard for Argentine laws .

Is it acceptable and legal to allow the patrimony of all Argentinians to be negotiated behind closed doors and under seal? The annulment of the Lewis-Milei agreement is imperative for any government that prides itself on respecting the Constitution and defending national integrity.

Former national senator and current legislator from Río Negro, Magdalena Odarda, is leading legal actions and denouncing a "pact of impunity" between the government of Javier Milei and the company Hidden Lake SA of British magnate Joe Lewis, seeking to annul agreements that are hindering the investigation into the illegal purchase of land and access to Lago Escondido.
